Lych Gate © Ron Church

Welcome to the Parish Church of Arlington, one of the five historic churches, the parishes of which form the Benefice of Arlington, Berwick, Selmeston-with-Alciston & Wilmington in the Diocese of Chichester.

The church, which is normally open during daylight hours, is one of the few in this country dedicated to St.Pancras, the Patron Saint of Children. It stands close to Arlington Reservoir near the east bank of the River Cuckmere in the small village of Arlington about 4 miles west of Hailsham, East Sussex. Although the Civic Parish is quite large, taking in the village of Upper Dicker to the north, the Ecclesiastical Parish is smaller with a scattered population of fewer than 300.

The present church building dates back in part to Saxon times although there is evidence of an earlier wooden construction at the site.
